RENUVA®: Post Treatment Instructions
Post Treatment
Bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness may occur in the treatment area and may last for a few days. Not all patients experience these symptoms, but please note that these effects can occur and are normal. If you experience persistent pain, extensive bruising or swelling, or redness lasting more than three days, please contact our office.
The treatment site may appear uneven, distorted, or firm as a result of swelling. This is normal and typically resolves within one week. If these symptoms persist beyond one week, please contact our office.
Within the first 24 hours after treatment, an ice pack may be applied for a few minutes at a time to the treated areas to help reduce swelling and bruising. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
If you have had a nerve block, avoid eating or drinking hot liquids for 2–4 hours.
Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours following treatment. After that, the area may be gently washed with soap and water.
You may gently cleanse the treated area with a mild cleanser after 6 hours. Makeup may be applied a few hours after treatment if no complications are present.
Avoid taking aspirin or blood-thinning agents such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, or other medications containing ibuprofen for 3 days following the procedure, unless these medications have been prescribed for you due to a heart condition or other medical condition and your physician has instructed you not to stop them.
Until the initial redness and swelling have resolved, avoid exposure to intense heat or cold.
Avoid exercise and alcohol for at least 6 hours after treatment to help prevent increased swelling.
Sleep with your head elevated for 2 nights to help minimize swelling.
